Adviser Points of View asked several advisers what industry events they attend on an ongoing basis.

Steve Clark says: “The Back2y, lifestyle financial planning conference is great. Inspiring speakers, loads of takeaways not only from the stage but also from the other advisers you meet. It really feels as if you are part of a sea change in the financial services world.

Clark adds: “I am also looking forward to the Financial Wellbeing conference on June 19 in Bristol. It’s run by Chris Budd of Ovation Finance and will, I believe, look at behavioural finance; money and anxiety; how to spend money to be happy; philanthropy; well-being in the workplace; and how to measure happiness. I think that helping clients see how the money they’ve saved can help them to be truly happy makes a wonderful connection as an adviser.

“I [also] go to some of the PFS Quarterly Conferences if I am short on CPD and there is something on the agenda that is of interest, Clark concludes.”

Aj Somal, chartered financial planner at Aurora Financial Planning says: “I go to the Back2y conference. It is an independent event, with no providers and it fully client-focused.”

Paul Stocks of Dobson & Hodge says: “I attend a combination of PFS seminars, seminars run by our compliance partners and also any specific sessions run by providers which are particularly pertinent to my work. This combination gives a broad overview of ‘general’ compliance and regulatory matters whilst also providing more technical updates/CPD in respect of tax etc.”
