How does it feel to win this New Talent Award?
I was shocked when I first heard my name called. I honestly did not expect to win. I Was confident I had written a strong submission, supported by some amazing testimonials, but I had no idea how it would compare to the other submissions. It was an honour just to be shortlisted. But I have to admit it feels pretty amazing, right now to have won and I’ve been overwhelmed by all the messages of congratulations I’ve received from work colleagues and peers. It feels great to get this recognition.
“In this industry it’s important to constantly challenge, push and adapt yourselves in order to succeed. There are not enough women in this industry also, so it’s important that we as a collective encourage more to join!”
Do you have any advice for people entering the industry?
I’m a marketer through and through and that’s where my passion lies. I’ve worked in many different industries and only started working within the financial services sector when I joined MJ Hudson in Feb 2017. A lot of marketing skills you could argue are transferable, but in order to do the job well you need to understand your products and services and your customers. In this industry it’s important to constantly challenge, push and adapt yourselves in order to succeed. There are not enough women in this industry also, so it’s important that we as a collective encourage more to join!
How important is new talent recognised in the industry?
I think it’s really important for new talent to be recognised. And new awards like this are a great platform to showcase this talent. I also think it’s important that it’s not just young people who are recognised as new talent but people like me who are new to the industry. So, thank you Professional Adviser for allowing me the opportunity to enter and win!
